My starter gave out today on my H. I checked it out and the brushes are not contacting the armature because the springs are arced and weak. I have several M starters. Will the electric motors on them work for a H?

They use the same starters.

So you wouldn't even need to take them apart, just bolt them on?

Yes, just bolt it on. I do think that the original starters were "clocked" a bit differently so the main electrical stud was in a slightly different position, so you may need to make some adjustments or even replace the starter cable to get everything to fit.
