Changing the belts on a Super M

Can somebody go over how to change the belts on a Super M? Mine is a 1952, stage I. I remember reading that there was a set screw that would release tension on the fan belt so last time I was up at the farm (400 miles each way) I went looking. I *think* I found it in a funny screw set into a nut. Unscrewing it didn't make any difference.
The fan belt on that tractor is at least 20 years old and is falling to pieces. I've got a replacement but if I can't get the old one off I can't get the new one on.
 

That set screw only serves to lock the two pulley halves into place. Loosen the screw, maybe even remove it completely, and then the front half of the pulley can be rotated away from the back half, which will remove tension on the belt. Only thing is, the two halves are most likely pretty well rusted into place, and will not want to move. Heat, penetrating oil, and persistance is in order.

Hint---the owners manual goes into pretty good detail on replacing the belts. It even has pictures.
 
Loosen the locknut on the setscrew and remove the screw completely. Squirt some penetrating oil in that hole. Attack the threads in front of the hub with a wire brush and some carb cleaner or brake cleaner. Eventually, you'll be able to work the front half of the pulley one way, then the other. It likely has decades of dirt built up in the threads. Resist the urge to clobber it with a big hammer and punch! You can get away with tapping it a little, but if you hit it too hard, it will break. Once the front half is free, spin it forward and you'll have plenty of room to install the belt. When you put it back together, the belt does not have to be especially tight.
 
Ahh the twisting was the part I didn't get.

You do need to hold your tongue just right and be somewhat of a contortionist to get the NEW belt squeezed in between the radiator and fan shroud and then around and over the fan itself, but it can be done.
