Farmall 300 Paint Scheme

I have a 1955 Farmall 300. When I started to strip it down to restore it, I found white and some yellow paint. Did certain models of the 300 use these colors?

No all hundered series tractors, Cub, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 600 had the all Red paint. When they were repainted over the years many of them were painted to the fifty series paint scheme of white grill and side panels.

The yellow paint may have come from a repaint years back. State departments and construction companies want(ed) their tractors construction yellow.

Your tractor would have been ALL red from the factory. Any other colors you find are from a repaint done by a previous owner.

I have a 1955 300 too! I rebuilt the motor a few years ago. Been saving in my "farmall fund" for awhile now so I can re do it. Keep me posted on how it goes for you and please send me some pictures. You can email them to me too! I'm currently redoing a 1951 JD A that I pay for with my "John Deere fund" lol.

My 650D has never been repainted. There was white paint, primer actually, on the engine block. There was also the remnants of a black stenciled number applied on the white paint. Might have been a date. Can't remember.

Like rustyfarmall said yours would be all red. The hundred seires were all red the fifty seires had the white side panels & grille.

I was told by someone that some of the demonstrator 300 tractors could have been white? I will send you some photos when I get it done. Right now It is in pieces all the way to the frame. Almost ready to start primering. My brother in law and I did a 1958 John Deere 730 Propane last year. I"ll send you a pic of it also. Turned out nice...Kevin

Sometimes the IH dealers would have overhaul specials and then repaint the tractor. When the repainted the "00" series you had the option to "update" to "50" series paint scheme.

Thankyou. It does have the white on grill and wide stripe on side panels. It is an early 300 so
maybe that"s what happened. Thanks for your input. Kevin K.
