Need 806 advice

Im a new poster here. Just bought an 806 diesel with a weak clutch. Tractor is in nice shape other than the clutch. Shifts tight, no noises, good brakes, good rubber.

The torque seems nice and solid, but since I have to split the tractor for the clutch, can I check the condition of the TA?

Hr meter says 3000hrs, but Im guessing its been around once.

I just dont want to split the tractor and not replace something that is needed.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Check (shift under LOAD)the Ta Before you split it.If the TA slips or shifts'wierd',its bad.No way to "check" a TA by doing a clutch job.

The hours could be right.I have an early 1963 model, that has 2860 hrs on it.My neighbor bought it new.Known the tractor all of its life.

You could be right on the hrs, the tractor was a trade in that I bought as is and I cant get the history. I dont mean to say that this thing is show ready, but a pretty straight old 806 in its work cloths.

The torque seemed good under whatever load I could put it under while driving it around not hooked to anything. Didnt feel mushy at all.

I can get more info when I get it home and can mess with it some more. Waiting for weather here to turn around alittle before I haul it home.

Thanks for the help bw
