Super A Engine Rebuild

I have decided to replace a damaged cylinder sleeve on a Super A. But at this time plan to only replace the one sleeve. Will disassemble motor and want to mic all the cylinders and pistons, etc. I have a service manual for the 113 and 123 engine, not sure which one I have.

But here is the question. The specs and tolerances in my manual starts at engine serial numbers 65,000 or so, my engine as a 56,000 or so serial number. Are these tolerances the same or where can I get something showing the correct tolerances?

I also have dome shaped pistons, I have not seen any of them for sale on this website. Any help here?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

I would guess that the tolarances are the same. If you get a new sleeve set, the piston & rings are fitted to the sleeve with the right clearance. If the other sleeves show a ridge at the top it is best to replace them all.

There are different types of domed head pistons. Do you need a 3 or 3 1/8 sleeve do you want a new one or used. What specs are you needing as those engines are very forgiving as far as close tolerences.

The Super A's has 6 digit serial numbers starting at 250001. Look under number No1 sparkplug on the block for a smooth surface for the serial number. It may be covered with paint and dirt. Also look for the casting number on your engine block. Hal

You can buy a sleeve kit off this forum for around $350.00. I would not just patch the engine. You probably should have the crankshaft measured for wear at your local auto machine shop. Buy your new bearings from the same machine shop. Some of the Super A's used casting block number 354898R1. You need to measure the length of the sleeves and the diameter at the seal to determine which sleeve kit to buy. Some used sleeves that measured 6-7/8" long and some were 7-1/16" long used with the 354898R1 block. This block would also accept an 3-1/4" over bore kit.

I need a 3 1/8 sleeve. I have no problem using a used one. None of the sleeves have a ridge at the top (amazing), I just have one that apparently had water in it at one time.
The tolerances I was wanting was the acceptable diameters on the pistons and sleeves to make sure I didn't need a entire kit. The motor ran fine, but now I am in it and want to replace this one sleeve at the least.

Thanks Guys

Tom,
I was looking for the sleeve and piston diameters, the acceptable ranges. I will be tearing it down to hone them but wanted to make sure they didn't need to be replaced.

Thanks
