some one came to look at my for sale[i thought] f-12. he found id tag, it's a f-14. my friend told me it's a f-12, [duh he's a dummy].of course, look who believed him. here i was posting for f-12 parts on earlier thread. sorry guys, wrong model. after seeing wcap restored f-12, beautiful by the way, i see the difference now. guess i better do my home-work or ask to pro on YT next time. here is a picture, now i can tell the difference.

The only way to make sure it is a f-14 is by the serial number. IHC would take in old f-12"s, put on a conversion kit which was basically an upgrade of a head, breather, steering post and coupler, seat post, adjustment of rpm"s, and a fresh paint job. If the tractor wasn"t on rubber tires, then they converted it. I have three f-12"s that were upgraded this way. The locak dealer charged $225 for the upgrade in 1942; $295 including an engine rebuild. That less than half of a new tractor and you got a refreshed old faithful tractor back. Besides, anyone who went through the depression and then in a war, didn"t have or want to spend money to buy a new one.
 
ron thanks for info: yes we did find id plate that says f-14 and serial number. plus looking at wcap's pictures of his restored f-12, i see the difference is the steering wheel and the seat,etc. either way the person looking at my f- now 14 is still interested.
 
Bob-b, no worries, you are not the first one to make that mistake........and you won't be the last. There are so many common parts between the F-12 and F-14 that it doesn't really matter (too much).

Where are you located, as I am looking for a decent F-14.
