1066 Hydro MCV pump seal question

I had some weak power steering issues. I pulled the MCV valve and the orifice by the flow divider was plugged. The seal that connects the tube to the transmission is not a tight fit. The rubber seal is glued or something to the tube. The replacement from CaseIH has a tube and a seal that is not attached to the tube. There is nothing to prevent the tube from slipping inward into the supply port. The hydraulic fluid level should cover the tube so I wonder how important that seal be? Any help would be appreciated as I am ready to assemble everything.
Thanks,
Tom

The oil that goes through the orifice is the oil that goes for steering so if it was plugged I'm sure you steering problems.

The seal is there to prevent unfiltered oil from entering the pump. The new seal should fit fairly snugly on the jumper tube. Install it just on the end of the tube. When the pump is installed it will push it into the proper position.

Thanks a bunch Owen! That makes sense to me now. I wish I could just replace the seal, the replacement includes the tube and is a $75 item. I think it will be okay, thanks again...
