3 PT. LOWERS TO SLOW

or too far back. On ours, extreme Draft Light is
pretty much "raise," and extreme Draft Heavy has
the least affect on lowering.
and if you put your posistion lever too far
forward into the offset (or the linkage needs
adjusting), it will slow the lowering
considerably. If you wish to use draft control
mode, lower below half-way then put lever at
desired draft position after implement is in
ground. There are some other tricks and learned
skills to operating these and using to full
advantage of system, all covered in the owners
manual.
make sure you have the quadrant guide and stop
screw (and the quadrant piece itself), they make
operation on the go much easier.

My Farmall 504 lowers SLOW even with a heavy load. The draft control lever has no effect what so ever. It worked fine one day, then it developed this problem (20 years ago). I assume it is an internal linkage problem or an orfice/valve with trash in it. Dad never ran the filters (twin dounuts). Actually until I put a filter extension kit on it, it did not have filters.

I need to tear into it one day to repack the lift cylinder. When it's hot it hiccups, but holds position. I'd like to hear others take on this.
