1086 sticks in high gear

I have a 1086 that sticks in high gear. I removed the floor board and placed the lever back in position. Changed gears a couple of times and it does it over and over. What must I do to fix the problem?

Id say that the shifter linkages are wore out. The 86 series were never know to shift nice, my 886 is a bear to shift. There is an after market "shift kit" for the 86 series that is suppose to improve the shifting. I have never drove one with a shift kit installed but have talked to people that have and they said that it made a world of differance. Id say that is what the problem is with yours. just my 2 cents though.
