What were the differences between a late model 450 and the early 560 (other than sheet metal and 6 cylinder engine)?

Thank you,
Glenn F.

Stronger pump in that is was driven from internal PTO hardware as opposed to distributer. The hydraulic service valves are more or less the same.

Steering was totally revamped.
Gas start diesel was abandoned.
Better seat was optional.
Suitcase weights.
Disc wheels.

Way bigger capacity 16 gallons compared to maybe 3 Gallons, 560 response was much better I had a 400 same tractor as a 450 just maybe 5 horse less.

if your talking international they both had the same size rear rubber 18.4x30 fronts were same also.

the hood on a 560 is about a mile long. 450 gas rated at 55 hp 560 gas rated at 63 hp. 450 with m+w crank and 4 1/4" pistons 70+ hp. 560 gas turned up to 660 rpms 80 hp

I beg your pardon but the holes are there for the suitcase weight bracket. Slab weights will bolt to those holes as well. I didn't check parts book to see if the bracket is listed.

the bracket is not listed in mine only the slab weights i know the bracket will fit tho and i have a bracket and the 75lb suitcase weights on the one i pull and i have the org! slabs on another 560

Only the slab weights were available on the 60 series, the bolt pattern is the same for the suitcase weight bracket that came out with the 06 series.

I don't recall seeing any 560s come out new with suitcase weights in our area. If they had weights it was the slab weights. First time I recall seeing a 560 with suitcase weights was after the 06 series came out.

We never owned a 560. We did buy a new 656 in '67. Other than being more comfortable operate the 450 we had at the time would pull rings around that 656. The 450 did have oversized pistons. I can remember the first year we owned the 656 pulling a 7 knife AA applicator with it. 3rd gear with TA pulled back was tops till the 1000 gal wagon got to less than 1/2 full then could shift the TA forward. I don't recall why but we had to have the 656 taken into the dealers shop & put the AA applicator behind the 450 and could run 3rd with TA forward when the wagon was full.

Maybe it was that particular tractor but it was a gutless wonder. But I have talked to others that owned 656s back in the day & many said the same thing. Others swore by them. My wife did everything but dance a jig when that tractor went down the road.

hydraulics on the 560 are completely different, moved to the transmission housing vs. The steering pedestal on the 450. 560 uses the transmission and rear end as the reservoir instead of a separate reservoir on the 450.

Also the 560 has teladepth fast hitch system. On previous tractors it was like lifting a haybine, the valve control was lift or lower. Teladepth lets you move the control to a position and the hitch moves accordingly. Halfway on the control is halfway on the hitch...

If those 450s were so good how com nobody bought them only 21370 built as to 560S that had just short of 60000, had one of those 450s it was called a 400 and what a lemon, the 560 I have still answers the call everyday.
