Farmall H carb.

I recently installed a carb kit in the carb. for my H because the car. was leaking really bad. I put the carb back on and turned the gas back on and gas still drips out of it. I checked the float to make sure that it was working properly and it seems to be. does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks James

Do you have the float set correctly?? Is the needle seat good and tight?? Did you install a new float needle and is it a rubber tipped one?? If rubber tipped they need to have a set put in them and to do that you drop the needle in the seat and tap on it a couple times. Are you sure that the float is good and doesn't have a small hole in it. They can look good but still be bad. Shake the float if it rattles it is bad

How much is it leaking? More than the carb can hold? If it's more than the carb can hold then you for sure have aneedle /seat that is not closed or is set improperly.

A needle valve and seat are precision designed and manufactured items. Go ahead and use the hammer tecnique if you want to, but be prepared to buy another new valve and seat. I've repaired more than a few "do it yourself carb kit" carburetors that had nothing more wrong than a hammered on needle valve.

Is it leaking, or running, out of the air intake port? Or, is it dripping from the "load screw"? I just rebuilt a Super M IHC carb which had a bad needle valve. Gas was running out of the air intake (hose removed). Another post a few days ago, pintobill, had gas dripping from the load screw following a rebuild. His problem is likely the lead packing which should be in the kit, however not in his. I bought my kit on eBay from bakt4kids. The mistake I made after the rebuild was that I had the idle adjustment screw on the governor set way too high. So within seconds of the engine starting, it broke the fan blades and was schrapnel taking out the radiator and shroud. Hope this helps, Bob in Texas

I went to our local case dealer today and ordered the packing for the load screw. Going to cost about $7 but well worth it to stop the leak.
