M fan blade, new or used ??

I am in the process of replacing parts after my M fan blade broke. It separated 2 blades at high idle due to over rev and hair line cracks in the blade. It took out the radiator, shroud and of course the blade. My concern and question is: should I put on a new blade as sold on this site or be original by buying another 60 year old fan? I called the local Case/IH dealer. Their price is $105.00 for the fan. I do not know if it is like the original in design or a single piece of stamped steel. I do not want to have to go through removal of the WFE and radiator repair again. I value your opinion. Thanks, Bob in Texas.

Find a good used fan. Inspect it thoroughly and weld/braze any cracks you find. It should then be good for another 60 years.

A used blade is just as good as new if it is not damaged. Putting the used blade under crack detection (Magna Flux) is a good idea. I would never put a fan back on. I would use an electric fan kit to regulate the engien temp.
A draw through electric fan in front of the radiator pulling toward the front, is pretty easy, and also increases engine power incrementally. Jim

I think I have a M fan and shroud laying in my barn. I know I have both, just can't remember if they came off an H or an M.

Doesn't that just move the cracks and fatigue the metal around the weld/braze? With the price and availability of fans wouldn't you be better off to just find a good one?
Does Rusty, Steiners, etc sell an aftermarket replacement? That may be a good option.
I would not feel bad at all putting a used on.

I would not be afraid to but a good used one on. But I would not mess with a cracked one. You already found out that don't work.
