while spinning around the back yard, my right rear feels like the wheel and/or bearing is out of round. like half of an oval, not a big dip, can feel the dip about every 2 revs of the tire, that could be equal to one rev of bearing. does bearing and/or races go oval if sitting to long.

My tractors do this too, only in high gear running doun the road.I just thought this was caused by a flat spot on the rear tires. In your case, sounds like a bearing.Does it go"crunch crunch"?

no crunch noise, feels smooth, will have to listen closer next ride. just that little dip feeling. will check in all gears. if good weather tomorrow, will post in pm.

Jack up the rear on the right side & just as the tire is about to come off the ground, take note if the axle has weakness or lots of play. Sounds like a couple of balls in the inner or outer bearing are loose in the race. Or the whole cage that spaces the balls evenly is disintegrated.
This assumes that the wheel/ rim attaching hardware is right & tight.
Hope it's not the axle going South.

Might be able to loosen the rim from the center and retighten it in steps. Or maybe rotate it a little and tighten it again and see if that helps. Like was said, while it is jacked up, check the axle to see if it is straight.

The bearings are made of hardened steel, and are designed to carry many times the weight of the tractor. They certainly do NOT "go oval" just sitting around.

The only way the bearing would deform is if the races were worn paper thin. You would have experienced OBVIOUS problems long before that point, though.

Rear tractor tires are all a little bit "square." They have flat spots. They are oval shaped. All of them. Especially cold.

I have an H that does that. The only thing that I can think of on mine is that one tire was loaded and the other was not. I don't think I got all the fluid out of the loaded tire and there is just enough left in there to be the cause. Allan.

When a rear bearing goes bad you get a jerky, noisy ride, and if you brake with that side you REALLY feel a jerk.

jackup your tractor on the bad side and rotate the wheel by hand, sounds like your rim is not properly centered. also you may stick a crowbar under it and lift a bit if your bearing is looseyou might be able to get some movment upand down on the axle bearing.

My tractors do that when it is cold out. The rear tires will take a set in the cold weather and cause it to seem like there is a flat spot. Try putting more air in them. This always goes away after running it around for a while.

thanks to all replies, good info. this is on my just bought w-6 with new tires, will check if tire was put on correct, check bearing, air pressure too.
