1486 Hyd outlets leaking off. Will not hold up equip.

I am having trouble with the hyd outlets not holding pressure. I can raise up the equipment but it drifts back down on both back outlets. I have 2200 psi on them, no problem raising anything just keeping it up when the hyd lever goes back to center. When cold it's a gradual drop but when hot it does not take very long for it to drop. Anyone have any ideals on what the problem is and what I need to do? The 3pt hitch stays up and does not drift down.

If it happens on all attached equipment I would suspect the tractor's valving (not the control valves, but check valves and pressure relief. If it is only one thing attached that lowers, I suspect the equipment's cylinder is bypassing internally. Lift the equipment and put a floor jack under it. Disconnect the couplers and let the equipment down. If it drops, it is at fault. Jim

Double acting check valves were not standard equipment on those tractors. The were available to keep from having the problems you are experiencing. As long as there are no external leaks the problem is either in the cylinder or the auxiliary control valves.
