Fan Pulley Farmall 300

I would appreciate some help with replacing my adjustable fan pulley (marked with red arrow). My problem is I do not see how to remove the front piece (marked with green arrow). Is it pressed on? I have the two front nuts off, but my manual is not clear how the fron piece removes. Thanks

First off, you take the packing nut, then the nut behind that off, pull hub assembly off the water pump. To get the adjustable pulley off you must remove a pin from the rear pulley by driving it inside the hub so bearings and seals must come out of the hub. Then you press the rear pully off to the rear. Then the adjustable pulley screws off to rear. The pin can sometimes be diffilcult to locate, it is in the flange. Measure how far pulley is on hub before pressing it off and press it back on to that same dimension. You can drill a new hole or do a good alignment job when reinstalling and use original hole.

Thanks Pete, for some reason I thought maybe the rear 1/2 fan pulley came off first. So I take the bearings and seals off the engine side of the rear fan pulley, drive a pin into the hub, measure and press the engine side of the fan pulley off. Do I ahve it? So this means new packing etc? This is going to sound stupid, but that pump has just had new packing, bearings and seals put in it. Its a long story. So I guess new seals for sure, new packing (???) and probably can save bearings. I have the hub assemby off the pump now.

Pete, please see pic, I think I found the pin. I bet the pin is rusted in there and will need drilled as you mentioned. I put some PB Blaster on it but I am not very hopefull. Tomorrow I will try and gently drive it out after removing seals and bearings. I trust there is not a sleeve inside the housing??? I ran my finger inside but did not feel the other end of the pin. Maybe a little heat to help??? Thanks Pete.

You should be able to just drive the pin in if bearings and spacer are out of there. No need to disturb the packings as they are in the other part of the pump. New seals, ya, bearings should be fine unless you damage them. Might even save the seals.

Thanks Pete, I do not have a parts breakdown so I am not sure where the spacer is, I was thinking bearings and seals. Then when I could not feel the pin inside I thought maybe a sleeve was in there. Anyway you have me on a roll, thanks

Thanks allot Pete, I just changed the pulley and went off/on like you said. I gave up trying to line up the hole, too challenging for me, will drill a new hole this PM. Saved the bearings, but will have to install a new seal. Thanks again
