Hi, Overhauled SMTA propane. New 4 1/8 flat top pistons, rings sleeves. rebuilt 450 l.p. head installed.tappets set @.017,new auto lite 3116 plugs, cap, rotor. Fire it up and missing on #2 ,tried timing, changing wires, shining base of plug for ground etc no change. What can it be?bad valves? does not sound like valve but I am at loss.A friend says run a while that piston rings my not be set. I have never experienced this situation.Help. Thanks in advance,TONY

Pull one plug wire at a time out of the dist. cap & listen/ look for any change in firing on plugs. I'd look the dist. cap over really well for a hair-line crack.
As already mentioned, plugs can be bad right out of the box. I've had first-hand experience with this. Shorted plug.
If you are using resistor wiring, could be a high resistance wire.

try swapping no 2 plug with another and see if miss moves to that cyl. If not try wire. Make sure you have good spark at that cyl, if you do and plug makes no difference pop off valve cover and recheck valve setting and make sure valve not sticking. Sometimes a new or knurled guide is a bit tight.

a leak at the intake will cause this have had it happen to me had me stumped for a while

LN, do you mean leak on intake valve or leak at intake manifold? Thanks ,Tony What did you do to correct?
