8 months ago I discovered water in the plug of my farmall 300, I've tried pulling it pouring in kerosen and letting it sit, I have torn down the engine to a bare block and soaking the head for weeks , pounding on the head with a hickory pole and sledge hammer , I've tried soaking it with a caustic recommended by a friend, I've pulled the pan and disconnected to availabe connecting rod and supported thr connecting rod with a pole and a floor jack to let the full weight bear down on it,...and still it is stuck..any ideas? before I break the thing in half?

p. guy; a poster on this forum always recommends using ATF = automatic transmission fluid. He would say pour some on the engine and let is soak.

Post back your results and good luck.

Jack the front wheels up with the pole and put a 4X4 across the block and hit with a BFH, at least a ten # sledge hammer. When I did this with my SC it put a steel rod through the piston, but the liner came out too.

Head off take and use a rag etc to wipe out/clean out the cylinders. Fill to about a 1/2 inch below the top with ATF and let sit a week. Then if you can do this and be safe top off with gas, light the gas and let it burn till ALL cylinder go out, add more gas and do that 3 or 4 times. Then while still warm try to tap on the pistons, beware you will make a mess but a lot of times that will free them up. But since it had water in it your still most likely looking at new sleeves etc

p. guy,Roll tractor outside. Remove all flammable stuff from around the immediate area.
Pour Diesel into said cylinder to almost full, add a splash of gas, set it on fire. Go drink a cup of Coffee or an Adult Beverage till the fire goes out. If the piston is more near the bottom of the stroke (large volume) it will probably come loose with 1 or 2 burnings if the piston is near the top of the stroke (small volume) it may take multiple burnings to generate enough heat to break the rust loose.
When you do this, I would leave the jack in place under it as you described above, the weight of the tractor will work for you as the fire burns. Hope this helps. If you would like to visit you are free to hollar at me,,,(512) 577-3837.

Is leaving the jack under it a good idea when it's burning?

While the piston probably won't suddenly pop out, it might.

If the piston pops out while there is still a quantity of fuel in the cylinder, and it's burning, it's going to spill out on to the outside of the engine block, still burning. There's certainly a buildup of grease and oil on the outside of the engine, so you're going to have a rough time putting the fire out before it engulfs the whole tractor!

mkirsh,Yes you are correct in your thought process. I am not advocating to lift the tractor tire a foot off the floor only 1 to 2 inches! You only want to just inch the piston up as the piston and cylinder turns loose.
If you are not comfortable using a floor jack through the entire process wait till the fire starts to go out then apply some pressure. Or don't, just wait till the fire is completely out and use a 4x4 and a 4 lb hammer. The heat from the fire is the Key. Work the method what ever way you are most comfortable with. Just be Safe, OBSERVE GOOD FIRE SAEFTY!
