Hydraulic Filter

Want to change the Hydraulic filter in front of right axle housing (I think it is the only one). When you remove cover does all the fluid drain out? How much is in there if it does?

Thanks

If the oil level is only at the full mark you will only lose the oil in the filter housing. A lot of tractors are run about five gallons overfull to compensate for internal suction leaks. If your is on of the them you might drain out three to five gallons.

I was told by an old Farmall owner to run the right rear tire up on block to tip the tractor some. But I also think it is a good idea to drain out some of the fluid to see what it looks like, I did not pour the last quart back in the tractor as it didn't look so good.
