I am going to be painting a 1206 and want to make sure it has the correct color paint on it, im going to be using a bace?clear paint but was wondering if some of u die hard farmall guys could point my in the way of the codes, there is 2 red codes (one is a light) im thinging its the other red and there are 2 whites as well...thanks for any help!

I have some codes for crossing from the correct IH color to other brands but the issue I have not having restored any similar era tractor is what white you are looking for. The original harvester white was IHC 901 and the currently available white is IHC 935. The original red was IHC 50 which was replaced by IHC 2150. I think the IHC 2150 is correct for your 1206 as the change took place in the 1950's I believe. I don't know which white is correct though. If you find the correct white I can provide a cross to several brands for you from some information I have, Hal.

2150 replace IH 201 in 1961, correct for 1206. 201 replaced IH 1102B, which replaced IH 50 in mid 1949. 201 replaced 1102B in 1958.

Charles, thanks for the information. I knew about the IH 50 and all my letter series tractors are 1951 and later. The ones I had painted as part of restorations are all the 2150 color. I'm now going to be doing a Farmall 240 which is a 1958 model so will have to sort that out again when it's ready for paint. The white to be used will also require some checking out then as well.
I saw your thread on the SA dilema but never having been in one of those engines couldn't provide any comments but read everything with great interest. Too bad about the missing plug as I wouldn't have been able to sleep until that got figured out. Hope you aren't bald yet from pulling out hair trying to get to the bottom of that one. We are having some really great weather over here that you sent us. Saw on the news this morning looking at 68 F Thursday and going to be near 60 today. Still have several inches of ice and frozen sleet in shady areas around the buildings. Thanks for the information and I'll file it away in my finish paint binder, Hal.

I have a little hair left. We got maybe 4 inches of snow, the most we have had all winter. It was horizontal so I don't think it did the wheat any good. No significant ppt since last June, if I remember right. As to paint, there is a choice of IH 50 or IH 2150. I don't think 1102B or 201 exist anymore. So you will probably use 2150 and 901, 935 was not around in 1958.
