Seat Pan - uncovered

Does anyone know where to get a new seat pan for a Farmall C that is not covered? Its been like trying to finding a needle in a haystack.

I don't think you're going to find one. The seat is *supposed* to have a cover to be "correct" so that's all they make.

Are you looking for an uncovered seat in the hopes that it is less expensive, or do you have some specific purpose for it? An uncovered seat would be a custom order, and would cost more than a covered seat.

I have a new aftermarket seat that was on a 130. It is not "correct" but it fits perfectly. It has the hump in the crotch area that Farmalls did not have. Willing to sell for $20 plus shipping. Will send photos if needed. Color= red. It is all steel no padding, but there was a padded cover with it that is two-toned red and white.

I did not know they came from the factory covered. I wanted it uncovered for wear reasons. Seems like the covered ones get dirty and tear...

I didn't know that either. The covers must have all got worn out, because out of the 10-15 C's, H's, and M's I've had, none of them have had a covered seat. I bought a new seat for my one H with the cover, and I prefer without one honestly.

Look at your uncovered seat real hard and you will see where the piece of metal folds over a few ragged strands of cloth.

I have never driven one with any sort of upholstery on the seat either. I would guess that the ones that are correct are the ones that have the cloth folded into the band on the edge. Most of these seem to be silver. There are also ones that have red and white covers that are like seat covers in your pickup. I would guess those are junk. Most of these seem to be red and white.

The factory covering (canvas covering minimal padding) quickly wore out. That's why you don't see any padding on the original seats. All letter series-up came with padded seats.

Actually, the covered/padded seat was an option. Except in the very early letter series, the unpadded seats were pretty unusual. The crimped edge tells you the seat was originally covered. The outer edge was left straight on the standard street.

Jim is correct. I had a 40 A that had a factory uncovered seat. The lip around the outside was flat not crimped over. I wish I would have kept that seat when I sold the tractor. It was very unusual indeed.

I had also seen a different seat on a M at an auction once. It looked like a factory metal seat, but was aluminum. Upon closer inspection, it had coolant hoses running from the engine. Heated seat. Don't know how well it worked, but was cool unusual.

That's real cool..I could definatly use a seat like that sometimes lol.

After 50, 60, 70 years or so, canvas does tend to decompose and wear.

The material used on newer seats is much more durable.

Metal seats get dirty too... Haven't seen a plain metal seat in any of my catalogs yet, though.
