Changing to 12V system Farmall Super A

I recently had an auto electrician modify my 6V generator with a cutout to 12V
A Regulator was fitted but it is not charging.I have activated the system by cross connecting the but still doesn't charge.
Can anyone advise?
The light switch has the low charge/high charge switch from the old 6V system

My advise would be to see why it didnt turn over good enough to start on 6v that engine will start in belwo zero with a 6v batt just get things in shape now you have messed around going to 12v and it still doesent start

Just to be clear, do you now have an alternator or a 12V generator? From your description, I'm suspecting the latter.

At least in the 6V variety, the new regulators available are notorious for a lot of them being bad right out of the box. That'd be a place to start.
