Hub interchange???

This is probably a dumb question, but I did not find anything in the archives. Will the 6 bolt hubs from a 560 or 460 front pedestal fit a 400 pedestal or do I have to change the whole pedestal?

Thanks, Warhorse

No, 400/450 has all different bearings but they are same as most M/SM/SMTA, 460 not even same as 560, 460/656 same, 560/706/856/966/1586 same.

The smaller frame tractors, H - 460, (not sure about the 656-686) use a smaller bolt pattern than the larger tractors. I believe there is also a difference in height between some of them.

If no one knows DK44H, I will go wading through the snow to measure a 560 and compare it to my 400 and post the dimensions. I know where there is a 460 to check if the 560 does not check out. I was told the 560 pedestal is held on with 3 bolts instead of 4 like the 400 and Ms.

The hubs should interchange but you may need different bearings. The smaller pedestals used a smaller spindle so the bearing ID is smaller.

(quoted from post at 20:03:38 02/11/11) If the hubs will not swap will the pedestals?

There are two sizes of pedestals:

One for the H/Super H/300/350/460 (small)
One for the M/Super M/Super MTA/400/450/560 (large)

560 and 460 hubs use different size bearings, except HI crops and some 460 international with heavy duty hubs. 560 and 460 lower bolsters have the same 4 bolt pattern the 400 does. They bolt on to a 400.
Don't hold me to this because I wrote the following down years ago and can't remember much about it. Use timken LM 603014 inside cup in a 400 hub with 560 bearing to install 400 hubs on a 560 spindle.

The pedestal bolt pattern is the same on H thru 350, M is bigger, same as 4/560/656/66/86/7/806& up thru 1586 with tri axle option, spindles are easy to id by size of nut for hub, coarse thread is 3/4 for H/350, 7/8 NC for M/450, fine 3/4 is for 460/656, all 7/8 NF is for 666/686/706 & up, there is only 2 bolt pattern also, 6 bolt & 8 bolt on newer disc wheels, H/450 had cast hub & wheel with 3 lug. There is few exceptions but being in parts at IH/CNH for 47 years not enough room for all info on this forum.
