Where is the middle? Super A question

Hey guys,

This may sound dumb, but where exactly is the MIDDLE of a Farmall Super a? Middle as in length wise, looking at the row you are cultivating. Looking towards the front of the tractor, it has to be to the right of the steering rod. Is there a certian bolt or something that marks the middle?

Thanks, Cole

The middle, in a longitudinal sense, is the pivot shaft on the front axle mount, about in line with the side of the engine.

I think you will find a line down the edge of the hood/grill will hit pretty close to the axle pivot (which is exactly center).

I picked up on you are trying to adjust your cultivators from side to side.

Suggest you check on the width between inside sidewalls of tires and get that adjusted to your desired row width/spacing. Consult your operators manual.

THEN you should be able to adjust the spacing of your cultivator to where the center line from tire spacing would be the "centerline" while cultivating.

I don't think there is any "gun type sight" per se.

Others may have a different "read" on your question and will likely chime in.

Good luck on your gardening this year.

On second reading...after posting...I don't believe what I wrote is quite right.

Your "centerline while cultivating" should be closer to right side of tractor and the rows be clearly visible as you are moving...passing under the seat area of tractor.

I believe you'll also need to adjust spacing between your rear sweeps to eliminate your tractor tracks.

Sorry for the possible confusion.

Thank you Rick. The "perfect" adjustments will not be made until i am able to drop the cultivator into the soil. I appreciate your help.

The A/Super A is a one row tractor. For row crop work the reat tires should be set, center to center, the same as the row width. Therefore the center of the row will be half way between the two rear tires.
