I am going to look at a UD-16 this weekend, and was wondering if
any of you know what to look for, if parts are still available and
value. I am assuming scrap, but what would scrap price be?

The engine won't completely turn over.

I just emailed olsonsgaskets.com to see if they have anything.

Thanks in advance.

Not a lot of UD-16 engines were made. Consequently I'd anticiapte parts will be very hard to find.

Now I believe the UD-16 is essentially a UD-9 with 2 additional cylinders. Consequently it should share many internal parts with the UD-9/WD-9/TD-9 family. However even these are rather difficult to obtain.

If the one you are looking at doesn't turn over all the way I'd offer only scrap value. Or perhaps a bit more if it has sheet metal, injection pump, distributor/mag, carburetor, etc. that might be salvaged.

I should still have some new exhaust and intake valves and starting valves, carburator ,magneto and a spair parts manual

As said the UD16 (D502 actually) are a 9 engine (D335) with 2 more cylinders. It also means parts are still difficult.

At least it turns some. My "guess" is light rust in one cylinder. It might go thru, but may break rings doing it. I have got one to work loose by rocking it back and forth. And with proper application of some antiseize that old gasket will work again.

Figure on roughly 2500 lbs (+/-500) for an entire unit, depending on how it was configured and how much has been removed. $300 should be plenty, $200 is closer.

If you are not going to buy it, let me know . I'm looking for UD 9 or 16 power unit dead or alive.

LOL,
Kind of a small world here in net land. I am the owner of the engine in question here. Yes its still for sale. It was set up to run a pump to take water off barges on the mississippi river. So it sets on about a 8 inch channel iron skid. It does have the radiator with it and everything is still on it. It will turn about a quarter of a turn. I did not force it due to not wantign to break anything. It does have a hood on it but no side curtains. The grill is still good. I have considered stripping it down and taking part of it to the salavage yard. I just can"t really bring myself to doing that yet.

So if anyone wants my email will be open and here is my number.
Thanks
Bob
