I am shopping for tires for my IH 300 Utility. Found 750 16 8 ply 3 rib BKT tires roughly $90 each and 13.6 28 R1 again BKT for $320 each. Does anyone have experience with these tires? I am located in east central PA and these tires are available at several tire and tractor companies.

I've never heard of BKT tires. Most likely they are imported, but that does not make them bad. If you can buy them from a dealer with a good reputation who has been around for awhile, go for it.

Such tires are probably ok, if you don't mind "made in China" printed on them. Somehow that would bother me, even though I have some Asian parts on my tractors -- at least I can't read them.

Pretty sure those are imports. I bought some front tires for two of my tractors (not BKT, but could be same), and biggest issue I have is the fact that anything will go through them. Since putting those tires on one of the two seems to be flat. Could be my imagination, and I do have a lot of thorns around, but never had near the problem until putting on new front tires. I am not far from putting slime in all of them.

Have never heard of BKT tires and proudly only use made in the USA tires on my tractors - sort of like CNKS I guess. I found a little out of the way tractor and implement repair person who also deals in used equipment in a small neighboring town that gives me a very good price on Firestone tires (made in USA noted on the tires) as he orders them in. He has them delivered once a week off a truck and charges a very small fee (like $25/set or pair for the rear ones) for his effort. I have to go back and pick them up the next week but much better then the dealers trying to sell for full retail. You might have a similar person in your area who would really appreciate your business as well, Hal.

Ron, I used to have that problem on my larger work tractors as those ribbed tractor style tires have that thin area between the ribs about the thickness of an inner tube. I got a pair of 10 or 12 ply recapped steel belted truck tires form a local tire shop he carries for the farm folks with the thorn problem. He might have other sizes but the ones I needed are the common 7.50 X 16 ones. They have a tread design like a heavy duty implement tire. Having a tread that doesn't bit as much in a turn hasn't been an issue but that is the only drawback I've seen. I've had them on the tractor for around 8-9 years now and never had another thorn related flat. The dealer is just off I-44 in St. James north on MO 68 a few blocks on the right. Send an email if you need more information but that flat repair daily or weekly is really no fun, Hal.

Well actually the company is based in India and nothing says "made in " anywhere on the tires. Now weather we ignore it or not since the end of WWII the earth has been shrinking slowing into one economy; until more recently easily since the mid nineties very quickly compressing! I wonder where Firestone gets their rubber?

Spend the money and buy TITAN. There is an american flag on the sidewall and made in the USA. They also support 4H and FFA. Any 4H or FFA kid who restores and displays a tractor can get free Titan tires for their project, all they cost is a finished photograph sent to TITAN. They drop ship them right to your door too.
Good to support an American company supporting American youth.

They're made in India.

I have one and a few guys I know run them and they seem OK. None of us have had them for more then a few years though.

I just bought 13.6-38 Titan Hi-power lugs in August, for the same price as another local dealer wanted for the BKT's. I chose the Titans because they're made in USA, and I've had a set on my C for almost 10 years now with no problems whatsoever. Your choice, gamble with the "cheaper" tires if you like.

(quoted from post at 16:32:45 02/09/11) So you really believe those tires are free?

Yes they are, to the kids anyway. You supply the tubes and mounting if you cant do it yourself. I can personally show you about 15 tractors in my area that have 4 free Titans on them. One of them is in my shed. I am on the FFA advisory committee locally and Know the contact person at Titan on a first name basis. Got one in the school shop right now, tires are ordered and will be dropped off at the schools shop. There are rules that have to be followed but there is no cost for the tires.

I didn't believe it either, so I googled it, emailed a marketing person for Titan, and she confirmed that it is in fact true. They have a program where they GIVE tires to FFA/Ag classes that are restoring tractors. I personally think that is pretty cool. They are made in the USA, AND they have a pretty cool program to help out America's young farmers.

Yea there made in India! I've had them from 4 5 years now! No problems! I have them on my cub and lot of the other cub guys have them! I got my from TuckerTire out of "Tn' Then the made in the USA!

Yea made in the USA deal, but all the stuff they make them out of is overseas stuff.

You can purchase the BKT tires through Farm Bureau if you are a member. The link for Pennsylvania is listed below. You may have to copy the link to your browser.
