Extra HP C135

Would like to rebuild the motor in the 340 Utility. Any suggestions as to how to get more HP out of the motor? Its the 135 gas. I don't see overbore kits listed on YT parts store but they do sell kits for diesels that are 3 11/16 bore instead of the standard 3 1/4 bore for the gas. Guessing that would not work? Will stepped head pistons work with factory stock head if tractor didn't have stepped heads originally?

Remember that the engine is worn out now, and not putting out anywhere near its rated HP.

You are expecting the rebuilt engine to perform the same as the worn out engine. It won't.

In fact, the rebuilt engine could have as much as twice the HP of the worn out engine, depending on how bad it is.

Frankly, you don't have many options for the C135 AFAIK. It's not a real common engine, only available on the 330 and 340 tractors. The C135 should be a bored out C113, so it technically is an "overbore" already, and there's not much left to the sleeve walls to bore out.

With some machine work on the block it may be possible to turn it into a sleeveless C153, but then that pretty much ruins the block for future rebuilds without some major $$$ in machine work and custom repair sleeves.

Engines in this family are the C113, C123, C135, C146, and C153. The C113, C123, and C135 are wet sleeve engines. The C146 and C153 are non-sleeved engines. The C146 was not used much, the 500 crawler and some combines and other equipment. It is basically a C153 with a C135 crankshaft.
