54 SW6TA seat

When I purchased the tractor it had a car seat attached mounted on it. the base appears to be original but it is not the standard pole type, instead it has a cube box with two support arms that move up and down while resting on a large spring that has a shock absorber in the middle of it. what I would like is a picture or a location where I can see what the original seat would have looked like.

It's the same as the W400. Wardner's got some pictures of his handy. Hopefully he will be along shortly.

This is about the best I can do without removing several feet of snow around the tractor. The only special part is the channel piece that replaces the battery box on a SMTA, F-400, F-450.

Not sure if the CaseIH parts site has the W-400 listed. If not, I can take a picture of my parts book illustration.

If you have long legs, you might be able use the battery box/seat base on the previously named tractors. That would also include 300-330-350. That would elevate the seat by about five inches.

I found a couple more on my puter and uploaded them to Photobucket. I also found what I believe to be your pictures from several weeks ago. You appear to have all the parts but somebody slid in a wood spacer to elevate the seat. That's not IH material. Keep it or lose it. Your choice.

Yeah, that's the Monroe E-Z Ride type of seat. IH put those on most of the Super series tractors in various versions relative to the seating positions needed on various models of tractors. Sometimes you may see a IH tractor (or other makes too) with an after market Knoedler seat which is a parallel linkage suspended thing with a coil spring with a shock inside the coil and weight adjustment slots on the upper horizontal link for positioning the spring guide bracket. This type of seat usually had a rectangular padded cushion style of seat and a backrest. These were nice seats when new but the linkage pivots wore rapidly and the seat would "side-sway" more and more as the bushings and holes wore on the linkages.

ok thats the base that I have now I need to find a picture of the back rest because mine has been removed. thanks
