IH 414 compression

Am considering the purchase of a 414 but anticipate doing a compression check first. Problem, I can"t seem to find any reference as to what the compression should be on a used engine. I would guess it"s a BC 144.

i would be more concerned with the actual readings and if they are within 10 percent of each other. do your check then ask for answers.i am sure that will tell the story.

my motor guy says 300-325 minimum, 425 and up for a new engine. so i would say you would want it at least 350 - 360

Unfortunatly the machine is 200 miles away. I have also received answers that range from 120 up and down. I will do a check wet and dry and look for close readings but in the meantime still not sure what to look for. thanks
