Farmall M Hood latch

One of the 2 metal tabs welded to the gas tank on my M is broken off. (Base is there but the little tab is gone).

Leaves no way to latch the hood.

Is there some clever/alternative way of securing the hood. Concept of removing the tank purging it, filling it with water then trying to braze or weld something on seems like too big a project.

I have one like that, I got one of those screw type hose clamps and worked in there and with some trial and error adjusted it until it held the hood down. its not perfect, but it works. Your may not be messed up like mine was though.

Why not try JB Weld? I've "pasted" some stuff together with it and had good results. Shawn

I use a piece of angle iron bolted to the rim of the tank just find or bend one same size as the good side. Bolt it up and no one will ever know.
