b250 fuel punp

Any decent injection pump shop can sell you a modern generic version that bolts right on to your CAV model DES inline pump. Last one I bought cost around $35. Same primer-pump fits many in-line injection pumps.

Thanks for your sujestion. I need one for my B250 serial number 549 (49th B250 made). My tractor has the CAV pump with the early mechanical govenor, they went on to pnumatic govenors at serial number 941. MJ

Yeah I know the B250s with the BD144s differ a bit from the BD144s in the B275s. I have B275s, B414s and a 3414. I've never bought a B250 since it lacks the hi-low range trans.

I still have my new primer-pump sitting in a box. I had it installed for a few months, but then decided to intall an electric pump instead.
I did that because I built a block-off plate to install in the injection pump instead of the primer-pump - with an easy oil-fill port. The old CAV inline leaks a lot of diesel fuel into it's cam-box, so this makes it easy to drain and fill with oil often.

Some day I'll fix it right. I suspect it needs new pump plungers and barrels. I found a place in England that has all the new parts. $200 for a set of four plungers, barrels, and delivery valves.

How well does your B250 start in the cold? I'm curioius since with mine - all mine with in-line pumps start terrible. All the later ones with CAV rotary pumps start great. Even with fast-heat Mercededs glow plugs, the old ones are still miserable starters in the cold. Run great though, once warmed up.

not got it running yet
sorted glowplugs out
put new starter on
sorting fuel system out
it has been suggested to put a glow plug in inlet manifold to make starting easier
will see how it goes
