What is the real reason for them on the carbs? Are the really a safety item and can they be removed. Thanks in advance for and coments.

I didn't know they ran them on Farmalls, but yes they are important. On small engines they shut to fuel flow off when the motor is not running. They will stop the crankcase from filling with gas if the needle leaks a little bit. Ask me how I know

Shuts off fuel flow into carburetor main jet so the engine will stop when the switch is shut off; that way a hot engine will not continue to try and run (dieseling) with switch off.

Several folks HAVE removed them and replaced with the adjustable style found on the Farmall letter and early number series. Depending on how you use your tractor, you may get away with doing that. It IS nearly impossible to outsmart the engineers who designed and tested it though.
