Non IH question

This is not a IH problem but I own several of them. I went to start my 97 F250 Gas and the starter just clicked I tapped it and it worked ok for a while than same thing. Tis is the 3rd starter in about 4 years same problem. Has anyone else expirenced this.

That is the problem with remans Henry. Spend a little more money on a new manufacture starter

I once had a Datsun and built the engine up to high compression, I bought a starter from an auto store, it did worse than the old one, so I went back to the old one, after break in the old starter did fine for years. Some replacements now days are not as good as original.

Sounds like you might have a bad solonoid.

I 2nd that. I own an auto repair shop and found out the same thing. Unless they ask for a reman. I always use a new one, cost a bit more but gonna get a lot more years out of it!!

Harold: Yes I believe it was the solonoid but it kind of is part of the starter not like they used to be mounted on the firewall. I got a new starter and its ok for now. AutoZone so it doesnt cost me anything but it is not much fun chaning it outside in Northen Il. Thats what I like about my 10-20 no starer to mess with and it always starts. Thanks
