460 and 706 engine

looking to find out how to tell the difference between gas and lp gas cylinder head building a 460 to pull with a 706 gas engine looking to get all i can get out of it figured a lp head would help boost compression.

806 head no. 383666r,706-806 387972r,706-382099r.They show these head no.none are LP heads it is all in the pistons for higher compression.I used a 301 out of a 715 combine in my 460 you gain more HP because the combine turns at a higher RPM like 2800 where the tractor runs 1800 to 2300 plus being a 301cid.Their is a difference in intake manifolds between gas and LP

ok thanks but a guy told me he has a high compression head no. 387718 but we can not find this no. any where or its original application do you have any thoughts on this thanks.

I have herd that there is a truck head that works good on these engines. If anybody knows the details on this I would like to know also.

The intake and exhaust are seperated giving you a cooler fuel mixture. I have a 460 with the lp manifold and it frosts under a heavy load.the cooler your fuel mix, the more power you get.

You are getting advice from a competitor in a VERY competitive sport...

I say he was blowing smoke up your butt. He was trying to send you on a wild goose chase for a part that doesn't exist.
