I found a 666 Hydro with a blown transmission that I can have for around 3000,I dont really know yet what am I looking at for parts and dont know whether the venture is worth it.If there is a smart way of doing this what would it be?Thanks

Yes you can do a hydro yourself but first you need to do a little home work. Does the tractor slip under load or not move at all? By blowen do you mean there is metal in the oil. there are several checks that you need to do before a tear down. These trans are kinda fun to work on and very rebuildable in you own shop. I get my parts at a hyd shop, you can lap the rotating group at your shop, I have takes a lot of time. The only bad thing on the 656,666,hdro 70 is if the charge pump is bad then it hurts$$. Most important be clean. Any ??? drop me line. Good luck Bob

i had the hydro on my 826 rebuilt at hoober's, 2 winters ago. $2300 plus i split the tractor, took the hydro down and back, and put it back together.

Hi Bob,im interested in knowing more about the hydro rebuild,as far as the tractor it will not drive at all. Thanks
