I have a Farmall m that ends in FBK X-1 any one knows what this means? Its a 9 speed a fellow told me that it stands for a tractor that came from in to the dealership from the factory with the 9-speed option already installed . Any help is appreciated Thank You & May God Bless Jw

X-1 means a factory gasoline engine as opposed to distillate/kerosene, so I have been told. I suppose dealers could have installed 9 speed ODs but I have never heard of it being done at the factory.

X-1 stands for gasoline engine. It has nothing to do with the 9 speed which WAS NOT INSTALLED by IHC at the factory. The 9 speed was aftermarket only.

Some dealers installed the 9 speeds but IH didn't like that. Way I understand it, if it was a dealership IH could control they were forbiden from installing the M&W parts. Don't know about all the facts, but there's a interesting artical posted about M&W on another forum.

Look for M&W part one.
