Hi,i live in australia & have just purchased a farmall super av,but it has the srial plate missing. Can i find out the serial no. by the engine number & purchase a new plate. The numbers on engine are faam, 306400 faav. Any help would be great.thanks

I think you might have a 1951. Can you look and see if there are casting dates? Look on the tractor just above the floor and pedals. It will look like a date except a letter will be substituted for a year. It might be a u, w or maybe even an x if the tractor wasn't assembled until 52. I have a 51 and 52 tag. I am only assembling one tractor. These dates will look something like 3-4-X. This means march 4, 1952.

There are date codes in other places as well.I think they will also be found on the inside of the rear wheel centers (discs)

Let me know what you find. If you have a 51 or 52 I might can help.

Sam

The serial number was probably 1000 to 1500 less than the engine number. My hunch is the tractor was built in the second half of 1950. Your date codes will probably be T, which is 1950. This assumes the tractor still has the original engine.
