What is a McCormick Deering 22-36 Parts Tractor Worth$$$

I have found 2 McCormick Deering 22-36 Parts Tractors, the guy said he wants scrap metal price which he said is $500 each, the problem is it is a 2 1/2 hours away and it will take 2 trips.
Is it worth the drive for that price?

I haven't seen too many 22-36's made lately. I would say it is worth it. You aren't going to get them any cheaper than by the ton.

Scrap price is the lowest you could expect to pay. Better save em regardless
of how far away they are.

(quoted from post at 06:04:46 02/01/11) You might remind the owner that the scrap price is "delivered"
How far is he from the scrap yard? He may negotiate.

Minus the price of rubber as well. I would assume these aren't on rubber, but you never know what might have happened in 90 years.

There are a few of questions

Are the tires full and will be a easy load?
this is a deal breaker if the tires are flat and rotted. If you are buying tires before getting the tractor home you have to have lots of value in what you are hauling.

Are the tractors complete with good tin?
If they are with side covers and all they are worth more hassle.

Are the engines locked?
Any unlocked engine is worth $500.

Anyway hope they go to a good home even if you don"t buy them.

I lucked out at an auction last summer and got a not seized 15 30 for $200 and a locked 22 36 for $400. Both on steel. Also a locked cockshutt 80 for $100.

If they were his Dad"s , he certainly should be willing to make a deal to someone with the idea of restoring them. Maybe he would produce tires etc to help out.

The tires are full of fluid so the rims are rusted out. He collects old crawlers and has one with a loader. He is going to pickup the tractors and set them on the trailer.
He knows one engine is stuck but not sure on the other, I will check it when I get up there.
Sounds like you lucked out with those ones you bought.

If one tractor is not locked that would be great. Also just ask him if the tractors had oil put in the cylinders (sparkplugs) over the years. If he says yes even if it is locked , he would have had a can on the exhaust and was trying to take care of them. I bought a tractor from a guy cleaning up his farm in Saskatchewan and it was locked and in a field(4 hours away).

He said that he had put oil in the cylinders and did not understand why it was locked. When I got home I shot diesel fuel into the cylinders with an engine cleaning gun until diesel smoked out of the exhaust on two cylinders. After a couple of weeks it was free and now turns fine. Still have not got it running.
so many tractors son little time. LOL
