Missing serial# tag on an 856 ?

I have an 856 IH that has at some time had the front trans / cluch housing replaced with one from an 806. The 806 tag is still on the housing and the 856 tag missing.
Did IH mark the serial number any other place besides that tag ??

No there is no other place on the tractor you can find the serial number. I have a 686 with the plate missing and i cant seem to find a place to buy a new one. You can get them for the older tractors but not the 66 or the 86 series.

You can get tags for IH tractors up thru the 88 series. Diener of WV makes them. They are not cheap ($100 each?) but they are perfect.

The May-June 2010 Red Power magazine has an article on serial number tags. They can get serial number tags on all models. Get on their web site.
