Just stopped down at the local repair shop and got to look at one of the latest projects. It is a 39 H with the serial number 959 on the motor, frame, and tag! I guess they started with number 501 which would make it pretty early. Apparently there are lots of little differences on these early ones too.
 
sounds like a nice find, I own a M with an even lower serial number. There are meany things different on them then the later models.
 
I hope to find a tractor with the serial numbers in the 500s and 600s. Already have O-4 S/N 706, and W-400 S/N 818. There are so many different pieces on the early tractors it will make your head spin. At times you almost want to do some of the updates to a later tractor to correct potential breakages. Post pics if you can get them. Would love to see this tractor.
