McCormick 31 loader cylinder packing

(quoted from post at 15:09:10 01/25/11) Does anyone know where you can buy new packings for a McCormick 31 loader?

Just a few short years ago a friend of mine found those packings at the local Case-IH dealer. Might have been new old stock, but it wouldn't hurt to check with your local dealer.

Where are you located? There are some good cyl. repair shops in the Kankakee/Gibson City, Il. area. Like they say on the I Forge Iron forum we need to know locations so We know whether or not to try to provide help. Armand

First you will have to take it apart to see what style packing they used. There are a number of styles. Any repair shop will need to know that. The tube, shaft, and piston sizes are probably a standard size.

A couple of years ago I got the parts from my CNH dealer. I cost about $50.00 per cylinder to replace all the parts. It was fairly easy to do; the trickiest part was catching the old oil that came out when I disassembled them. If you need any advice, feel free to e-mail me.
