Spark plug qusetion

I went to pull a plug today to check for spark and I am not quite sure what im looking at here
is this some kind of extention? I haven't started
this in about 2 years. (41 farmall A) anyway saw no spark.What should i check next?(12 volt). Motor turns over good. Thanks Ray

There were a set of these in the tool box of my SC.

Have been told they are something to keep the plugs from fouling out. Others probably have better information...
 
That is an anti fouling adapter that puts the spark plug farther away from the oil splatter, and (unfortunately) the combustion process. It is an attempt to keep a cylinder from going dead.
Put in new d-18 champs (or equal) and leave that out. If it fouls the plug either repair the engine or use the adapter. Jim
 
I agree - looks like a 50's era "anti-fouling" plug adapter.

Toss those old plugs and adapters! Replace them with a hot plug like a Champion D21, Autolite 3116 or equivalent.

Well, basically, it means your engine is worn out and these adaptors were a last ditch attempt to coax a few more miles out the the old "Jenny" before she either went for a rebuild or went to the scrap-yard. Go ahead and give 'er a rebuild and she'll kiss you right on the lips, for another 50 years or so......
