46ish H hydraulic fluid capacity?

My friend has an H with a front loader and is hooking up the rear remotes to run a log splitter. We drained the hydraulic fluid to change a few hoses on the loader and ad some valves to switch from loader to remotes and are now ready to fill the fluid back up, but was wondering if someone could tell me the correct fluid and capacity of the hydraulics?

If the H has a lift-all it's 6+ quarts. It has a dip stick so that will tell you how much with added cylinders and hoses. It does not use hydraulic fluid. Use 20W or 30W ND depending on temperature. If it's live hydraulics that's a whole different story.

6 qts. Assumes all 2 way cylinders are full. Cycle the cylinders until they work correctly while checking the fluid in the system. The level will be fine between 7 and 8 inches down from the top of the fill pipe stand pipe (original nipple length if hardware is added to the top) Jim

Originally they did use 20 and 30 wt oil. When used in conjunction with other tractors, and oil in someone elce's splitter or a rental, it is fine to use Hytran or JD hydraulic oil (or any clean oil that meets Hytran spec. Jim

Thanks for all the help. I am a ford boy so was unsure of the type of fluid. Thinking of making the switch to red all over!
