What is the difference between a C-153 and a C-157?

IIRC, about EVERYTHING.

The C-157 is a more modern-looking unit, basically a 4-cylinder version of the C-263, C-282, etc.

The differences between the engines will depend what tractor each one comes in.

If the two engines come in tractors that are of the same lineage (e.g. H and 300), then odds are there's not much different outside a slightly larger bore on the bigger engine.

However, if they come in two completely different tractors (e.g H and 424 Utility), then they are completely different engines and about the only thing compatible between the two are the spark plugs.
