LiftAll belly pump problem on 53 Super H

I have recently installed a new aftermarket 3 pt kit on my 53 Super H. I am using the the LiftAll belly pump and a sigle acting cylinder. My problem is that the lift will lift a load but not hold any load at all unless it is raised all the way up to the top of the stroke. Isn't there a valve inside that should provide a hold position? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I don't know about the three point hitch but with a loader or a remote cylinder the belly pump will hold a load part way up.

There is a check valve (ball) in the belly pump and it should definetly hold the load. One other thing though is that the rod you pull to lift and lower may be bent wrong or the bracket attatching to steering post may be positioned wrong which is very easy to tell. Just pull rod rearward a little to see if you can find a neutral point where it holds the load. Common problem. If not then you need to take pump out and repair. You could try using the other outlet as there are two seperate check valve and one may be good. One side has front and rear, other side had front only and the fronts on both sides are on same check ball.

I have my dads 53 super H and he always had the same problem and one day I just decided to start checking it out and we found the neutral location and bent the rod to where it rest on the stop when in neutral and it has worked perfect every since.

Isn't there supposed to be a detent at the hold position? The lever should "click" into place and hold the load.

Odds are after 57 years the detent's wore pretty bad. Wonder if you could tear down the pump and build it back up?

That is exactly what I am talking about. There is no neutral detent internally. The little welded tab on the rod is the neutral position and any wrong bend can cause a problem but easy to overcome.

Do you have the right parts or right installation of control rod parts? I recall there were some variations of the lift all control arm/rod for use with the optional selector valve and the 2-way valve. Details of those differences are not my expertise, but maybe someone will see this and fill us in.
