after finishing my first tractor last spring, i"ve noticed others have wheels turned out as mine are in ( if that is the correct terminology ) Any opinions on which way they should go and why would be helpfull. Thank you.

There is no set standard for the wheel dish. The wheels were dished to allow for a certain row width or particular application.I have my tractors "dish in"so they will follow a 30" corn row.Set your tractor the way you like it!Enjoy!

It was set up that way so you could vary the distance between them thus adjusting for different row spacing, etc. For looks and stability, I like mine dished out. People who haul to shows often have them dished in as they tend to fit trailers better that way. Many manuals will give you the spacing for different configurations.

It is hard to tell if your SC wheels are dished. Dished wheels can be turned in or out depending on what wheel spacing one desires. I have seen them both ways and I think turned in looks silly. I have my F504 turned out and set to about 6'. I have been thinking of getting another set of cast centers and dishing the inside ones in and the outside ones out to make duals.

Nice tractor by the way, good luck.

On the C/SuperC your wheel is basically flat with no dish. You can mount the rims to the wheels with the lugs on the rim to the inside or out. Most folks mount them with the lugs one the outside because it takes avoids whatever finaglin' you might have to do, depending on your lug design, to get the lugs over to the back side. If they're on the outside, you can just flip the rim and tire up and bolt 'em on. In either case, the adjustment for rear tread width is made by loosening the clamp that holds the wheel to the axle and sliding to the spot you want and tightening the clamp back down.

The A/B series and the Cubs are a different matter. On those the wheels are dished and the lugs on the rims have a definite offset, and changing the width of the rear depends on three factors: wheel dished in or out, which way the rims offset is mounted, and (real obvious withthe cast wheels) whether the rims are mounted to the inside or out of the wheel.

From the clamps on your front wheels, it doesn't look like they are of the adjutable variety, but if they were, they would have offset lugs on the rims and the considerations for setting their didth would be similar to setting the width on the rear of the A/B/Cub, without the factor of the dished wheel.

To each his own...but you havea gorgeous SC witha an alternator hangin out and you are worried about the way the wheels should be dished?

I would mount the rims outside the wheel center. That's what most people do. Looks a little strange the way you have it.

Unless you have a specific use for the tractor that requires a certain wheel configuration, set them up however you think looks best.

Centers turned out or turn in is all part of what the tractor is set up to do. That is how they made them sit wider and narrower for different jobs and also to help make the more stable n hill sides. How you want them is up to you

Wheels turned out allows you to have hub clamped closer to housing and somewhat less strain on axle. And then most feel they look better turned out as I do, but there is no set way, what ever you like.

Your wheels on your SC look like they're turned in, but it's hard to tell in the picture. It's just personal preference..I've had them both ways on my H and M, and I think turned out looks best.

(quoted from post at 12:53:42 01/21/11) Faster346; I like your tractor best w/your girlfriend by it and the wheels dished out.

Thanks! Sure looks different in the "before" pictures above, eh?
