544 hydro

I found a 544 hydro, it has a stuck engine, gas, fast hitch, wide front end. Rear rims have been converted to dish with terra tires, came from a pecan orchard. No fenders. Whats it worth
 
What a stuck 544 is worth depends on a lot of things. Can you do the engine rebuild yourself? Are you prepared to spend 3 to 5 grand on the hydro if its toast. Do you care if it has the wrong rims and tires? Are you looking for a worker or a trailer queen?
To me it wouldn't be worth more than a grand in that condition, but every bodys different.Keep us informed what you do, and get some pictures for us. Kent
 
I can do the rebuild myself on the engine, no I'm not prepared to spend 3-5k on the trans, I have a set if rims/hubs and can easily swap back to stock tires. I think I can get it bought for less than 500.00. The previous owner passed away he had stripped the sheetmetal and had pulled the pistons and thats how she sets right now. block is wrapped in plastic, piston and rocker arms are in a tub on the operators platform. I didn't see the head but will look for it this afternoon. If it ends up following me home it will set next to my 460 diesel and my 350LP opposite my 61 moline Jetstar and my RTU. The only one that ever really works is the 350LP and thats not very hard.
His wife doesn't know much about it. He has restored 13 tractors and the estate is still trying to sell 9 of them.
Will get pics later today and post. I think the wide front and fast hitch is worth the asking price of 750.00.

A 544 hydro is a pretty neat little tractor. If you aren't going to use it for heavy pulling the hydro does not need to be in perfect shape. The gas has no sleeves but that is not a big deal when it is in the conditon that one is as you will want to tear the engine completely down anyway. If it has been towed around you might want to be careful as leaving the trans in high or low range and moving it can destroy a hydro in ten feet.
