Have been told the 340 Farmall is a more desireable tractor than the 340 International. Is this true & if so why? Thanks for the replys.
Posted on the wrong page the first time.

Of coarse it is true. Why, because I have two Farmall 340 tractors! Your answers will vary be responder, that will be the "why" part. I prefer the appearance of a row crop tractor. The rowcrop will be more of a challenge to get on. This I have remedied by adding a step. If you have low clearance for storage, the 340U may be just the ticket. Others will chime in.

myself i have the 340 international gas and diesel and desire it more than the farmall as there is so many built of them compared to few international. this is the collectability value, but maybe the farmers prefer the farmall.

Maybe because just a little over 7000 farmalls were built. I like the farmalls better, but thats just me.

Fewer 340 Farmalls were built. Farmall 340s are nice show tractors and I'm sure a few still get used out in the fields. The IH 340U is useful as a compact work tractor because of its low profile and heavy build. You can put a front-end loader on a 340U.

The Farmall 340 with power steering, wide front end,T/A and fast hitch is the most desirable tractor ever. Right Al.

Putter; you are correct.
My Farmall with the utility axle and no power steering however is not the most desirable...thus the other Farmall followed me home from SE Michigan last summer to become a donor. Now, hold still, this won't hurt a bit...

Putter, how is your 340 doin?

Al, My 340 is not running right now. I left it out in the rain at deer camp for a couple weeks this fall and now it won't start. I hauled it home and there it sits while i'm here in Gulf Shores, Al. keeping the wife happy. I want to take it down and fix the wiring and do a clutch job, but I use it so much it's hard to fit it in there. Never did put the 2001 loader on it. They are so rare few people realize just how handy a Farmall 340 is. I bought a 51 H a couple years ago but just use it to give tractor rides mostly and teach my grand kids how to drive. Stay warm and Go PACK
