Doing an in frame o.h. on this. I.T. manual says sleeve protrusion should be .003-.005. How critical? Have two that are running .005,other 4 are approx. flush. Shims are avalable[approx.$20.00 per shim]. can multible shims be used per cyl sleeve to reach protrusion specs?

Yes and if they are not even in height it can allow the low ones to move slightly in the block and wear the block till it leaks also can cuase it to blow the head gasket as the gasket would be trying to make up for the clearance.
