The factory Behlen is not exactly like the aftermarket Behlen. The input shaft for the former is about 4" long. The one in the picture is around 1' long and is threaded for the steering wheel nut. Don't think anyone has put a Behlen under the hood of a H. Despite how others feel, I think the PS actuator should not be hidden anyway. I like the look of that attachment where everybody can see it.

So you will have to whip out the welder, make a coupling (or two), plus find a bracket. And both the Charlynn and Behlen will need a power source.

f it has a part number on it I'd try to cross reference it at a decent auto parts or bearing house or someplace like that. A good store can cross match alot of stuff. In fact Napa's online interchange catalog is pretty good for bearings and such. Can't hurt to give it a whirl.

Well, the Behlen type is good, maybe better'n a Char-lynn but the Behlen on my uncle's SMTA always reminded me of a wart on someone's nose....it just didn't look like it belonged there. So if I'd ever got one for my own Super M, I'd have got the Char-lynn type that went under the hood and mounted it's pump on the govenor housing...but I never did...got a 4 spoke steering wheel instead and built up my arms.

The power steering on a 350 IS the Char-Lynn, isn't it?

It's the one with the torque generator on the steering shaft under the hood.

If you are talking about the one in the pictures, that's not a pump, it's a type of motor/valve assembly called a torque generator. If you go looking for parts, it helps to know what you are looking for.

After thinking over my response regarding the 504, I think it is possible the 340, the 504's predecessor, may have used the CharLynn. Too lazy to look it up.
