I bought this yesterday, found it in KY. It appears to have brackets
behind the rear wheels for scrapers. Did this planter have those or
is that a farmer "custom attachment" Seems if planting conditions
are right you wouldn't need scrapers.
Restored planter is for reference, mine it the old rusted one.
What are the adjustment wheels for on the painted planter? Mine don't have them?

Nice find. The wheel scraper arms are OEM, I don"t see the scrapers there, or the 8 X 20 hollow center tires. The hand wheels on the red planter are your wheel depth adjusters. Pictures and part numbers are on the Case IH website.

Where would the 8x20 hollow center tires go? It would seem that it would use either the steel wheels I have or the 8X20's.

On depth adjusting, do you take the pin out of the fast hitch and let it float? or leave the pin in and take advantage of the down pressure. I'm not understanding how the depth adjustment works.

I will end up with the operators manual. It more fun to talk to you folks + it passes the time in this truck stop.

It can be float operated (the depth float only). not the tilt pins on each socket. The use of down force would not be good unless you had way flat fields. The planting depth is very important to crop emergence, So figuring out how to adjust your new planter is a good idea. Jim

Dean, the hollow center rubber tires, fit on the hollow center steel wheels shown in the picture. The tires are special to fit the wheel. The tires don't have a "hollow" center, they just fit the hollow center wheel. I don't see how the rusty one adjusts either.

Charlie

Cool.
What was the purpose of putting a rubber wheel over the steel? I thought that the steel wheel type I have was for covering the seed.

The hitch must be set to float. The use of down pressure will cause the front main bean to get bent and it looks like yours might already be.

It more of an optical illusion than it is bent. The left side is perfectly square. The right side looks like someone snagged the row marker and broke it off.
